I stayed in Chelton Hotel in Brussels last weekend. I actually planned several trips in Europe for those two months that I’m here, but due to circumstances, I wasn’t able to travel a lot. A weekend Brussels was the perfect little get-away from the Netherlands. Only a three hours ride from Amsterdam.
The Chelton Hotel is located in the European district of Brussels; the European parliament and the European commission headquarters are within walking distance from the hotel, just to name a few. After hours strolling through the city, the hotel was the perfect place to relax and revive. It feels like a boutique hotel. Small and personal, but still individual.
The interior design is the most striking feature of the hotel; walls coated with pallets, wooden furniture and industrial accessories. I guess it is the interior that makes you feel like home. I was astonished by the roof terrace as well. A view over the neighborhood (#ihavethisthingwithviews, remember?) and trendy outdoor furniture. The perfect place to have your coffee in the mornings before heading to the city centre.
I recommend you to explore Brussels by bicycle. There are dozens of public places where you easily can rent a bike for only €1,60 a day. A fun and cheap way to get around the city (just slightly exhausting is you’re used to Dutch’s flatness). Also drink some local beers and eat waffels (a must, not just a recommendation).
